Privacy Policy
Last updated:
DeeGee is a check-in app for dirt bike and motorcycle riders, operated by Dylan Cook (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app collects, what it does not, and who else can see it.

The short version #
- We collect the account you create, the content you post, and a push token.
- Your location is never stored. It is sent as a search parameter to find check-ins near you, used to answer that one query, and discarded.
- We share nothing with third parties for advertising, and we do no tracking or analytics of any kind. There is no ad SDK, no analytics SDK, and no crash reporter in the app.
- You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app.
What we collect #
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address | To create your account, sign you in, and send account email (confirmation, password reset, email change) |
| Handle, display name, avatar | Your public identity in the app — other riders see these |
| Bikes, photos, maintenance log | The garage features you enter them into |
| Check-ins (spot, time, note, visibility) | To show the people you choose where you’re riding |
| Ride polls and RSVPs | To run the poll and tell attendees about changes |
| Feedback and reports you send | To fix bugs and act on reports of other users |
| Push notification token | To deliver notifications to your device |
We do not ask for your real name, phone number, address, date of birth, or payment details. DeeGee is free and has no payments.
Location — the important part #
The Nearby feed answers “what public check-ins are within 25/50/100 miles of me”. To do that, the app reads your device’s coordinates and sends them as parameters to a database query. The result comes back, the screen draws, and the coordinates are gone. They are never written to any table, log, or file, and they are never attached to your account.
Consequences worth being explicit about:
- We cannot tell you where you have been, because we never recorded it.
- Denying the location permission disables only the Nearby tab. Everything else in the app — your garage, friends feed, check-ins, spots map — works normally.
- A check-in is not your location. You check in at a named venue from a curated list (a track, a trail system, a park), never at raw GPS coordinates, and every check-in expires on its own.
Map tiles are fetched from OpenStreetMap. When the spots map draws, your device requests tiles directly from OpenStreetMap’s tile servers, which — like any web request — reveals your IP address and which tiles you asked for to them. That is a request from your device, not from us, and is governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
Who can see what you post #
Visibility is enforced by the database, not by the app, and you pick it per check-in:
- Friends — only riders you’ve accepted.
- Friends of friends — plus friends of anyone already attending.
- Public — any signed-in rider, including in the Nearby feed of people you don’t know. Choose this one deliberately.
Your handle, display name, and avatar are visible to any signed-in rider, as is your friend code (it works like a username — anyone who has it can send you a friend request; you still have to accept). Blocking a rider hides you from them and them from you, in the database, in both directions.
Who we share data with #
Nobody, for advertising or any other commercial purpose. We use these service providers to run the app, and they process your data only to provide their service to us:
| Provider | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, file storage, and authentication — everything in the app is stored here |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) | Delivers push notifications; receives your push token and the notification text |
| Resend | Sends account email (confirmation, password reset, email change) |
| Apple / Google | If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, they confirm your identity to us. We receive the email on the account and nothing else. Sign in with Apple’s Hide My Email works normally |
| OpenStreetMap | Map tiles, as described above |
We may disclose data if legally required to, and we will say so publicly where we are permitted to.
Retention and deletion #
Check-ins expire automatically. Everything else persists until you remove it or delete your account.
Deleting your account: Garage → ⋮ → Delete account, and confirm by typing your handle. This permanently deletes your profile, bikes, photos, check-ins, polls, RSVPs, friendships, and the uploaded files behind them. It is immediate and it is not reversible — there is no restore window and we keep no backup copy for you. Reports and feedback you submitted are deleted with the account. Reports other riders filed about you are kept in our moderation records without your account attached, so that deleting an account can’t be used to erase the complaints against it.
If you’d rather not do it in the app, email support@deegee-ride.com from your account’s address and we’ll do it for you.
Your rights #
You can see and change your profile, bikes, and check-ins in the app at any time, and delete the whole account as above. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or California, you also have the right to request a copy of your data, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to object to processing. Email support@deegee-ride.com and we’ll respond within 30 days. We do not sell personal information, and we do not “share” it in the sense California uses for cross-context advertising — again, there is no advertising in DeeGee.
Age #
DeeGee is for riders 18 and over. Account creation requires confirming that you are 18 or older, and we don’t knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, email support@deegee-ride.com and we’ll remove it.
Security #
Traffic between the app and our backend is encrypted with HTTPS. Who can read what is enforced by database-level row security rather than by the app, which means a modified or malicious client still can’t read check-ins it isn’t entitled to. No system is perfectly secure, and we don’t claim otherwise.
Changes #
If this policy changes materially, we’ll update the date at the top and note the change in the app’s release notes. Continuing to use DeeGee after a change means you accept it.
